We all have heard the name Toyota and a lot of people prefer to use their cars from all over the world. But Toyota never started out in the automobile industry. The company was known, as Toyoda Automatic Looms which used to sell textiles and automatic looms before the 1930s. However, in 1934 the company produced its first type A engine. Since then, Toyota has made its name in the automobile industry as one of the best. While their design and technology for cars are outstanding, so is their logo design.

The very first logo design of Toyota was a by-product of the result of a public competition. During this competition, it was suggested that the name should be changed from Toyoda to Toyota. The winner of the competition designed the name Toyota and represented it with a blue and red, diamond-shaped emblem. This logo design became the company’s identity from the 1930s to 1989.

After 1989, the design was changed during their 50th anniversary of the company. The logo design was simple three ovals combined together which is used even today. The logo might look simple at a glance, but there is an interesting story behind it, and the design has a lot of elements. According to the company, apparently, the designers spent five years to design the logo so that it would be accepted everywhere. The very first time this design was seen on their luxury vehicle in 1989 in the month of October. After that, it was found in every Toyota vehicle.

Now, if you take a closer look at the current logo design of the company, you will be able to see the whole name of the company. It might look like only three ovals one over another, but the letters T O Y O T A can be found in there. The centre oval is for the T, the outer ring is for the O and the A is in the upper-middle while Y is in the lower middle.

Also, the company themselves gave their own meaning for the logo design. It was explained that the two perpendicular ovals represent the heart of the company and its customers. These two are overlapped to show the trust between each other and how both mutually benefit from each other. The outer oval represents Toyota being embraced by the world.

Both the company and the logo design has made a name over the years. If you want to do the same for your company, you can come to Purpple Designs in Kolkata for your logo design.
